Multi-Hazard Disaster Plans / Emergency Action Plans -

Fire Safety Plan Included

Prepare for a Fire, Earthquake, Tornado, Pandemic and more!

Multi-Hazard Disaster Plans (also called Emergency Action Plans) are custom-designed by WPS for companies that want life safety and evacuation procedures for all types of life-threatening emergencies and disasters, not just fires. WPS Multi-Hazard Disaster Plans are NIMS (National Incident Management System) compliant and utilize the industry-standard ICS (Incident Command System). WPS Multi-Hazard Disaster Plans include three site-specific binders: A Fire Safety Plan Manual, an Emergency Procedures Manual and an Incident Command System Deployment Manual for larger scale disasters. Policies and procedures for twelve different types of disasters are covered in detail in these manuals, providing building owners and property managers a clear plan of action should a disaster ever occur.  While a Fire Safety Plan is required by law, many companies are now seeing the value in having a Multi-Hazard Disaster Plan as well. Preparing for all kinds of disasters provides a much higher standard-of-care and demonstrates a companies’ dedication to its employees’ safety.

With regards to these plans, WPS has identified three classifications, or groups, of people: Command and Operations, Floor Wardens and Occupants. Those individuals classified as Command and Operations are generally the building/property manager or security, where available. Floor Wardens are employees, or tenant representatives, who have volunteered or are appointed to take charge and be responsible for certain tasks should an emergency occur. The Building Occupants are all other individuals within the building, such as the employees, contractors or visitors.

People within each classification, or group, will receive a manual containing the policies and procedures dedicated to their specific roles and responsibilities in the event of a disaster.

Command & Operations

Fire Safety Plan, Emergency Response Procedures, Incident Command Manuals

  1. Fire Safety Plan Manual
  2. Emergency Response Procedures Manual
  3. Incident Command System Deployment Manual (for major disasters)

These three main manuals are used by the Command and Operations and are based on a thorough visit and survey of each customer’s location. Each manual is designed for quick and easy reference, streamlined with coloured dividers and tabs. These tabs will guide managers to critical information including emergency phone numbers, detailed facility descriptions, emergency procedures, and multi-coloured life safety floor plans for efficient evacuation. *Note that previous versions of WPS’ Multi-Hazard Plans consisted of one large manual instead of three smaller ones. If you have a previous version and would like to update your plans to our new, user-friendly format, please contact us.

Upon development of the WPS Multi-Hazard Disaster Plan, keeping it up-to-date with easy access to this information is critical to a successful plan. To ensure that you have 24/7 access, your plan is made available online through WPS’ exclusive ePlan Manager™ software. Find out today just how easy maintaining your Fire Safety Plan can be!

Floor / Fire Wardens

WPS Floor Warden Identifier Safety Vest WPS Floor Warden Manual

A network of tenant representatives or employees are selected and trained to help execute a thorough and effective Fire and Life Safety Plan. These Wardens are designated to particular areas of a facility and are essential to the overall integrity of the disaster response.

The Floor Warden manual contains building specific fire procedures and responsibilities based on the Fire Safety Plan. Also found in the manual is the facility description and Computer-Aided Design Drawing (CADD) floor plan, which pertains to the floor or area that each Warden is responsible for and a designated fire evacuation assembly area map.

Building Occupants

Employees who do not fall within the classifications of Command and Operations or Floor Wardens are referred to as Occupants. Since training is not always feasible for occupants, WPS has created a simple Building Occupant Emergency Procedures Guide for anyone occupying a particular facility, regardless of classification. These pocket-size manuals are colour-coded for each disaster and provide basic instructions for each employee in the event of an emergency, providing them with peace-of-mind, while demonstrating your company’s high standard of care for its employees’ safety. Both a generic Occupant Emergency Procedures Guide and a custom-designed, weather-proof Occupant Emergency Guide are available. Click on the images below for a larger view.

WPS Also Offers Two Other Types of Multi-Hazard Disaster Plans

CORPORATE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTRE (CEOC) PLAN

WPS recommends a CEOC plan for larger companies that have multiple buildings and need a central, or “hub,” plan to be established. This ensures that each member of the Corporate Emergency Management Group is aware of their duties and responsibilities to support the individual building emergency response activities from the corporate level. This plan generally incorporates senior corporate management and establishes roles and procedures for individuals within the CEOC enabling them to respond in a  supportive, timely and effective manner in case a regional disaster strikes. It also maintains a high level of continuity within the group of buildings, and simplifies protocol as all properties have consistent policies and procedures in place.

TENANT PLAN

A Tenant Plan is dedicated to a specific tenant within a building. The WPS Tenant Emergency Plan is developed specifically for each business and it enhances the life safety program for the employees. This plan is designed in conjunction with the WPS Fire and Life Safety or Multi-Hazard Plan for the entire Facility. The Tenant Plan enables each tenant to respond and execute its own policies and procedures if the building personnel are not available to direct or assist the tenants during a disaster.
