Evacuation Signage

Evacuation Signs with Emergency Procedures

Building evacuation signage is not only required by most local fire authorities, they will always serve as a constant reminder to the building occupants and visitors the importance of being prepared and knowing how to evacuate the building. Have you ever thought about how you would find your way to the exits if you could not see them? Building occupants and visitors are not always familiar enough with their surroundings to navigate themselves towards a safe exit during an emergency. These factors need to be considered when selecting the type of emergency evacuation signage you are installing in your buildings. Fire and Life Safety Plan.

Among the evacuation signs offered by WPS the most effective are the photoluminescent, or glow in the dark, series. These signs are strategically placed throughout a facility to help foster a successful evacuation no matter what the circumstances. As power outages often occur during a fire or other disaster, regular evacuation signs become difficult to locate and read, rendering them useless. WPS' photoluminescent signs glow in the dark, making them visible even during a power outage.

Below are pictures of the Evacuations sign frames we offer. Brushed Metal and Acrylic, both are available with a photoluminescent or brushed metal insert.  Standard backing (CAD artwork included). Click to view larger image and/or hover mouse over for further info:

About Photoluminescent Evacuation Signs

Evacuation signage is required by law, but what good are your signs if no one can see them, let alone read them, during an emergency? In addition to mounting signs near your elevator lobbies, WPS recommends installing photoluminescent evacuation signs on or adjacent to the building exit doors providing a back-up plan should your standard exit lighting being comprised by smoke or the bulbs being burnt out. Photoluminescent offers you reliability and no maintenance and is proven to enhance life safety (it is becoming law in many cities).

Smoke, like heat, rises, often compromising one's visibility during a fire, making standard evacuation signs difficult, if not impossible, to read. Photoluminescent signs glow-in-the-dark making the emergency procedures and floor plan of the building clearly visible, thereby facilitating a faster, more efficient evacuation. When you post photoluminescent evacuation signs, you improve the life safety of your building and increase the chances of everyone getting out alive.

  1. They are visible during emergencies, including power outages
  2. They act as beacons to the exits as they are placed at exit doors
  3. If an exit is compromised, they clearly show you another way out
  4. They provide Fire Fighters and other First Responders a clear, visible floor plan
  5. They naturally glow-in-the-dark, no batteries or light bulbs needed
  6. They increase life safety in your building
